The Overpopulation Myth

In so many of the articles I run across, there’s thus mention of this super-leftist bullshit about how our planet is running out of room for the Human race. I’ve always suspected that this was a load of crap. I can easily picture a sustainable way of living for our population, and then some. Here’s a link that puts the overpopulation concept into perspective.

Medical Marijuana. One Town. One Month. $69,651 in Sales Tax Revenue.

I’ve been talking for a while about how industrial hemp can be a vital cog in the machine of sustainability. I find it ludicrous that the states are passing up a billion-dollar cash crop over the interests of a few wealthy asshats.

Looks like some more data on the economic effects of re-legalization of cannabis has come up for a Colorado town. Enjoy!

Does Structure Stifle Creativity?

What happens to your creative spirit if you place so much emphasis on formal design? Do rules and organization interfere with having fun and letting yourself go?

Not at all. Creativity doesn’t merely tolerate boundaries–it requires them. As Rolo May, psychologist and author of The Courage to Create, said, “Creativity is best when it has limits, which force the ‘dream’ into useable form.”

Divination

Divination (from Latin divinare “to foresee, to be inspired by a god”,[2] related to divinus, divine) is the attempt to gain insight into a question or situation by way of an occultic standardized process or ritual.[3] It is an integral part of witchcraft and has been used in various forms for thousands of years. Diviners ascertain their interpretations of how a querent should proceed by reading signs, events, or omens, or through alleged contact with a supernatural agency, most often describe as an angel or a god though viewed by Christians and Jews as a fallen angel or demon.[4] Divination can be seen as a systematic method with which to organize what appear to be disjointed, random facets of existence such that they provide insight into a problem at hand. If a distinction is to be made between divination and fortune-telling, divination has a formal or ritual and often social character, usually in a religious context, as seen in traditional African medicine; while fortune-telling is a more everyday practice for personal purposes. Particular divination methods vary by culture and religion.

Divination is often dismissed by sceptics, including the scientific community, as being mere superstition: in the 2nd century, Lucian devoted a witty essay to the career of a charlatan, Alexander the false prophet, trained by “one of those who advertise enchantments, miraculous incantations, charms for your love-affairs, visitations for your enemies, disclosures of buried treasure, and successions to estates”,[5] though most Romans believed in dreams and charms. It is considered a sin in most Christian denominations and Judaism, though some methods, especially dream interpretation, do appear in Scripture.

Quiet Riot – Up All Night on Wall Street

There were hundreds (at least) of people crowded around a single speaker, and no microphone—which led to an actually impressive display: The speaker would say something, the people who could hear him would repeat his words, and then the people who could hear them would repeat the words, and so on, leading to a bizarre game of Telephone, where five sets of people would roar the same three words back and forth. It took a long time to say something as simple as, “THE SPECIAL ASSEMBLY [PAUSE] IS NOW IN SESSION,” but every accurately complete thought was rewarded with wild applause. The speeches were choppy and full of clichés (the phrase “brothers and sisters in arms” made an appearance), but the content didn’t matter to anyone yelling the words out at the top of their lungs. A young couple got caught up in the passion of the moment and starting making out aggressively in the middle of the crowd.

Read on for an in-depth narrative of what life is like inside the occupation protest camp. It’s a great read, really tells the tale of the protesters.
